Dr. Lydia Jeffries entered practice in Asheville in 1990 and joined
Asheville Women's Medical Center in 1994. After more than twenty years in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Jeffries now limits her practice exclusively to
Gynecology. Her patients appreciate her upbeat practice style, her thoroughness, and
her personal attention. Dr. Jeffries sees patients in both the
Asheville and Arden offices. She balances her practice and family life
while still finding time to give back to her profession.
Training
Dr. Jeffries graduated with honors from the University of Iowa School
of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology
at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she was the chief
resident. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists and is Board Certified by the American Board of
Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Jeffries served as a member of the
Board of Trustees of Mission/St. Joseph's Hospital. She served as an
active member of Mission Foundation Board. She is a member of the
Buncombe County Medical Society, the North Carolina Medical Society,
and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology (ACOG), where
she served on various task forces and committees. From 2000 to 2004
Dr. Jeffries served as the Vice Chair of the North Carolina Section of
ACOG and assumed the Chair in 2004, where she continues to serve. Her
special areas of interest include menopause, infertility, minimally
invasive surgery, hysterectomy, and alternatives to hysterectomy. She
has active staff privileges at Mission Hospital System, using both the
Mission and St. Joseph's campuses.
