Our nurse practitioner / physician assistant are an important part of the health care
team at Asheville Women's Medical Center. They are very experienced
with women's healthcare issues and are available to assist you with
your routine well-woman visits or with special problems that occur.
The practioners are excellent educators, assisting the doctors with
this part of your care. They work closely with the physicians, having
consultation immediately available.
Amy Burris, BSRN, OGNP
Ms.
Burris joined Asheville Women's Medical Center in 1999. She comes
with extensive experience as an obstetrical nurse in the hospital
setting. This gives her special skills in assisting the doctors
with your care. She sees obstetrical and well-woman gynecological
care patients in our Asheville and Waynesville offices.
Training
Ms. Burris earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at Western
Carolina University, where she was a member of the National Honor
Society in Nursing. She graduated from the Ob-Gyn Nurse Practitioner
program at Emory University in Atlanta prior to joining the practice.
She is a certified Obstetrical and Gynecological Nurse Practitioner.
