Leaders in Asheville OBGYN Medical Care

Asheville Women’s Medical Center is a progressive and comprehensive Asheville OBGYN office that has set the standard for women’s care in Western North Carolina since it was formed in 1976. Over the last four decades, the physicians and staff at Asheville Women’s have worked tirelessly to bring you the latest technologic and medical advances while treating you with kindness and compassion. We have been pioneers at bringing advanced laparoscopic surgeries to Mission Hospital that can decrease hospital stays and minimize pain. Additionally we have a robust in-office surgical program and we were the first gynecology group in Asheville to offer in office sterilization, endometrial ablations, hysteroscopy and D&C procedures. Finally, our diagnostic imaging center brings you the latest in 3-D mammography, 4-D ultrasound, and bone density screening all in the comfort and convenience of our downtown Asheville location.

Special People for Special Care

RN Triage

RN (Registered Nurse) triage is an important role in our facility. We have trained nurses on staff who are here to help assist and answer any questions or concerns. Our nurses are very knowledgeable about OBGYN. They are available during office hours to help answer questions or concerns for our patients. Other tasks our nurses assist our patients with include scheduling same day appointments, assisting with prescriptions, refills and medication management, giving instructions for scheduled procedures, and managing the process for patients requiring outside referral.

Gestational Diabetes Care Coordinator

Our Gestational Diabetes Care Coordinator provides teaching, coordinating with high risk care, dietary teaching, glucose management including regulation and modification of medication regimes for all of our patients with gestational diabetes.

Postpartum Health Coach

Jennifer, our Postpartum Health Coach works with all of our postpartum patients to assess their physical and emotional needs, arranges follow up care and keeps the patient’s primary OB care provider informed.

Behavioral Health

We have entered into a co-management agreement with Meredith Larrabee, PSYD, for Behavioral Health Services for the management of patients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.  As unaffiliated providers, we enter into this collaborative agreement to benefit the care of our mutual patients, to promote clear communication, to reduce duplication of resources, to streamline care, and to provide high quality care to our patients.

Leaders in the Community

Not only have the physicians at Asheville Women’s Medical Center been leaders in delivering women’s health care, they have also been leaders in our communities. Many past and present Asheville Women’s Physicians have led Mission Hospital as Chiefs of Staff, Service Line Leaders, Credentials Chairmen and Quality Chairmen and Patient Safety Officers. Other past and present physicians have led the medical community with Executive Leadership roles for The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Centers for Disease Control and the North Carolina State Department of Health and Human Services. Finally, many of us are involved with our local communities as leaders in our schools, churches and other charitable organizations.

Reliability and Longevity

Asheville Women’s Medical Center is a stable practice of collegial physicians. There has been very little physician turnover in the past decade and the average length of employment for the current physicians is nearly 14 years. This stability can assure you that your physician will likely be there for you for years to come.

The office staff at Asheville Women’s has been very stable as well. Many of our nursing and office staff have been at with us for over 20 years ensuring that you see the same friendly faces year after year.

Obstetric Team Approach

Our obstetrics team is very cohesive and made up of seven board certified/board eligible obstetricians and two nurse practitioners.
